This week, the Manitoba Legislature is back in session. As with most sessions, there are a number of important issues before the Legislature that need to be debated and decided upon.

Since my early 20’s I’ve dreamed of building a straw bale house. I love the deep windows and the smooth, warm aesthetic of the walls. Building with bales creates extremely energy-efficient homes using materials which themselves have very low embodied energy.

So, a little over a week ago, about my washing machine DIED. It would fill up with water, and then do nothing. I hadn’t a hot clue what was wrong with it, so I was looking at finding a new machine.
