Your days will include:

• Developing a business relationship and have direct communication with genetic companies that HyLife does business with.
• Participating in the development and execution of the genetic program at HyLife.
• Selecting top indexing boars and GGP gilts from genetic companies for HyLife.
• Overseeing and managing the boar studs, boar flow and gilt flows for the HyLife production system.
• Overseeing and working with HyLife’s multiplication production managers to ensure we are selecting the best gilts for HyLife’s internal production.
• Creating and facilitating farm gilt selection schools for our HyLife multiplication finishing division.
• Visiting HyLife sow farms to inspect and collect feedback on the quality of gilts coming into the farms.
• Attending HyLife production meetings monthly.
• Working closely with R&D on genetic trials and analyzing data regularly.

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

• Minimum of 5 years in hog production.
• Experience in managing a Multiplication Sow Farm in Nursery and Finishing an asset.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
• Grade 12 Diploma
• Post-Secondary Education an asset
