Lynn Lake RCMP are reporting that a 25-year-old Brochet, Manitoba man was arrested and charged in connection to a number of theft incidents. Assisting in the investigation was police service dog Linkin, who located a stolen firearm.

On December 24, 2021, at approximately 7:30pm, RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from Gordon Avenue, in Lynn Lake. Police were advised that there was a rifle inside the vehicle when it was stolen.

Officers immediately began making patrols and were notified that the stolen vehicle was involved in a single vehicle collision on Highway 391. The incident occurred at the turn-off to Black Sturgeon Falls.

Witnesses reported seeing a lone male with a firearm, running from the scene into the bushes.

Officers attended the scene and located the male suspect on the edge of the treeline. He was arrested without incident, but the firearm was not located at this time.

RCMP report that the following day, police service dog Linkin, along with his handler, searched the area. As a result of the search, the firearm was located and seized.

Police say that a 25-year-old male from Brochet has been arrested and faces multiple firearm and theft-related charges.

The suspect has bee released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in March, 2022.
