Killarney RCMP are reporting that a 62-year-old Winnipeg man has recently died as the result of a snowmobile collision that occurred in Turtle Mountain Provincial Park, Manitoba.

On February 20, 2022, at approximately 5:30pm, Killarney RCMP received a report of a snowmobile collision in the Lake Metigoshe area of Turtle Mountain Provincial Park.

Officers attended the scene on snowmobile.

Investigation determined that a group of four adult snowmobilers were riding on groomed trails when the lead rider drifted off the trail. It is believed one of the skis was pulled in the loose snow, resulting in the rider hitting a tree head-on.

Police say that the rider, a 62-year-old Winnipeg man, was pronounced deceased on scene.

RCMP report that alcohol was not a factor in the collision and the rider was wearing safety equipment at the time of the incident.
