Headingley RCMP are currently investigating a multi-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a Lorette woman earlier this month near Elie, Manitoba. Police are asking for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

On March 8, 2022, at 1:25pm, officers from Headingley and Stonewall, as well as RCMP Central Traffic Services, responded to a report of a multi-vehicle collision that occurred in the eastbound lane of Highway 1, approximately 12 kilometres east of Elie, Manitoba.

Police investigation has determined that a vehicle, being driven by a 61-year-old Lorette woman, was traveling east on Highway 1 when it was involved in a multi-vehicle collision. The collision was due to the extremely poor driving conditions as a result of a winter storm passing through the area.

Police say that the Lorette woman was transported to hospital in critical condition and on March 24, succumbed to her injuries.

RCMP are requesting additional witnesses to come forward in relation to this collision. Police are asking anyone who may have dash cam footage from the area between the hours of 1:15pm and 1:35pm on March 8, to contact the Headingley RCMP detachment at 204-888-0358.
