Gimli RCMP are reporting that a 53-year-old Winnipeg woman had died as the result of a recent skydiving accident that occurred at the Industrial Park in Gimli, Manitoba.

On June 4, 2022, at approximately 7:25pm, Gimli RCMP received a report that there had been a parachuting incident at the Gimli Industrial Park.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that a 53-year-old woman from Winnipeg was unresponsive on the ground receiving medical attention from civilians on scene. An RCMP officer immediately began to assist, and within minutes, Emergency Medical Services was on scene and took over care of the female.

Police say that the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Initial investigation has determined that the woman was a very experienced skydiver and was wearing all the appropriate safety gear. When she jumped from the plane, her parachute appeared to open at the proper altitude, but she entered into a spin and collided into the ground.

RCMP report that there were no issues with the aircraft, and three other people were in the plane at the time of the jump.
