Stonewall RCMP are reporting that a 28-year-old man from the Rural Municipality of Rockwood was recently arrested and is facing drug and firearms related charges.

On October 26, 2022, at approximately 9:30pm, Stonewall RCMP responded to a report of a male suspect carrying a firearm in the Teulon area. A short time later, it was reported that a gunshot had been heard.

RCMP responded to the scene and made patrols in the area, but were unable to locate the suspect at this time.

Initial police investigation determined that the suspect attended a Teulon business located on Highway 7. The suspect had then pulled out a firearm and pointed it at a male victim. The victim was able to flee the scene without injury.

Further police investigation led officers to identify the suspect and a warrant of arrest was obtained.

On October 30, 2022, at approximately 2pm, RCMP located the male suspect in Stonewall and made an arrest without incident. The man was found to be in possession of two loaded firearms, methamphetamine and cash.

RCMP report that 28-year-old Mitchell Ritchot, from the RM of Rockwood, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as numerous firearm-related charges. He was remanded into custody.
