The Ontario Provincial Police recently completed a very successful partnership with Joe Roberts and his “Push for Change” campaign and held a handover ceremony with the Manitoba RCMP.

“Push for Change” is a national awareness and empowerment campaign with a goal to help end youth homelessness. Joe Roberts, founder of the Push for Change and a former addict and homeless youth, is pushing a shopping cart across Canada to raise money and awareness for this campaign. This national trek began in St. John’s Newfoundland on May 1st, 2016 and will end September 30, 2017, in Vancouver, British Columbia: a 9,000 km, 17-month journey.

From April 11th to May 8th, Joe Roberts will be travelling through Manitoba to share his personal story of struggle and success with youth from across the Province. The RCMP has helped connect Mr. Roberts and his Push for Change message with schools in several rural communities across Manitoba.

“This is an opportunity for all of us to start speaking about addiction and where it can lead our youth,” said Assistant Commissioner Scott Kolody, Commanding Officer of the RCMP in Manitoba. “More importantly, it’s a chance to tell our youth that there is always a way forward and that success, even after trying times, is possible.”

Mr. Roberts enters the province on Tuesday, April 11 and A/Commr. Scott Kolody, will be there to welcome him. A media invitation to the event with additional details will be sent on Monday, April 10th.
