Virden RCMP are reporting that a 26-year-old Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation woman has been charged with second degree murder in connection to a stabbing incident that happened in the community.

On December 10, 2022, at 12:20am, officers from the Virden RCMP detachment received a report of a stabbing at a residence located on the Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation.

Officers, along with EMS, responded to the call and located a 26-year-old female, from Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation, with life-threatening injuries. The woman was later pronounced deceased on scene.

Police investigation has led to the arrest of 26-year-old Rennie Kristyna Williams, from Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation. Williams was charged with second degree murder in relation to this homicide and was remanded into custody for a court appearance in Brandon.

Virden RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate this crime.
