Selkirk RCMP are reporting that four suspects have recently been arrested and charged after fleeing the scene of a collision in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, Manitoba.

On May 2, 2023, at approximately 12:35pm, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision at a location on Gimli Road and Henry Avenue in the RM of St. Andrews. The report stated that a silver pickup truck, full of garage-type items, had rolled into the ditch and that two people were observed running toward Netley Marsh. Upon arrival at the location, police determined the pickup truck was stolen.

Investigation determined that a second pickup truck came to the area, at which time the two people who had originally fled the scene, returned and took items from the first pickup truck. The suspects then left in the second truck and traveled through a bush trail in the marsh. Police noted that checks on the second pickup truck determined it too was stolen.

Multiple police vehicles from several detachment areas subsequently responded to the area to look for the pickup truck and the four individuals believed to be inside. At one point, the vehicle was spotted near Edith Avenue in Petersfield. When the suspect vehicle became aware of the police presence, it fled down Highway 9 at a rate of speed topping 175 kilometres per hour, becoming a severe public safety threat. The vehicle was again spotted on Highway 8, passing other vehicles on the shoulder. RCMP then set up containment in the area. The vehicle was later located abandoned in a field on Rushman Road.

RCMP, with the assistance of Police Service Dog Mocha, attended the scene to assist in tracking the individuals from the vehicle. As police were searching, the suspects stood up from behind a large pit and began to flee, quickly running out of steam. Officers noted that they were apprehended by 1:35pm.

Police say that all four suspects had numerous outstanding warrants and were breaching court-imposed conditions. A search of the black pickup truck resulted in the seizure of a rifle, a pellet handgun, numerous rounds of a variety of ammunition, a bunch of keys, and illegal cigarettes. A search of the silver pickup truck resulted in the seizure of bear spray, a hatchet, and a baton. A firearm was also recovered near where the vehicle was in the ditch.

It was later determined that the silver pickup truck had been involved in an incident of stolen fuel in the RM of Rosser earlier in the day. Police also learned that the stolen truck had been taken from a residence located on Hall Road East. The residence had been broken into and firearms, along with numerous other items, were stolen. Police have since recovered a handgun and another rifle from the residence.

RCMP report that 25-year-old David Adam Morrissette of Winnipeg, 22-year-old Liam Freeman of the RM of MacDonald, 22-year-old Angie Marie Daniels of Winnipeg, and 27-year-old Brittny Anderson of the RM of Gimli, are all all facing numerous charges related to this incident, including possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
