On Friday, April 28, 2017 at 8am, Steinbach RCMP received a report that a 78-year-old man was missing in the area of Giroux, Manitoba.

Police say that the wife of the missing man reported that they had been driving on country roads in the area of Giroux, Manitoba, when they became stuck on Thursday evening at approximately 5:30pm. The husband had then decided to walk for help while she remained with the vehicle. On the morning of Friday, April 28, the wife also set out to walk for help as her husband had not returned and help had not arrived. After walking several kilometres, the wife was picked up by a passerby on Highway 210, who drove her home. Unfortunately, her husband had not returned to their residence.

Steinbach RCMP were then notified, approximately 18 hours after the couple had become stuck. Police set out with the wife to locate the couple’s vehicle and establish a starting point for a search.  While enroute, the missing man was located lying in the ditch, approximately a 1/2 kilometre from where the car became stuck.

RCMP report that EMS attended and transported the man to the local Hospital where he is now recovering.
