Manitoba RCMP are reporting that as the result of a recent search, officers were able to seize over 100 firearms at a home located in Wawanesa, Manitoba.

On July 20, 2023, the RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team out of Winnipeg, assisted by Killarney RCMP, executed a warrant at a residence located in Wawanesa, Manitoba.

Police say that officers subsequently seized 121 firearms, several thousand rounds of ammunition, a large number of magazines (many of which were loaded), three sets of body armour, and firearms manufacturing paraphernalia.

The seized firearms included 53 non-restricted, 53 restricted, four prohibited (although purchased prior to prohibition), six antiques and five receivers/frames. Of the firearms seized, 62 were long guns and 55 were handguns. One antique functioning cannon was also seized.

RCMP report that a 38-year-old male suspect is facing charges of unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm at an unauthorized place and losing a firearm. Further charges are possible in the continuing investigation.
