The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating an allegation of falsifying a document that occurred after an officer served an appearance notice in the Manitoba West District.

On Oct. 23, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) notified the IIU of an incident that occurred in early September. According to the notification, two RCMP officers arrested a subject based on a warrant. One officer completed the arrest, executed the warrant and served an appearance notice. Shortly afterward, the officer who served notice went to the detachment to complete the service document and observed it had been completed and signed in their name by another officer.

The civilian director has determined it is in the public interest for the IIU to investigate.
