Responding to a business alarm, Oakbank RCMP, along with assistance from Police Dog Services, located and arrested a 35-year-old Winnipeg man in connection to a break-in at a local business.

On November 8, 2023, at approximately 11:45pm, Oakbank RCMP responded to an alarm at a business located on Transport Road in the RM of Springfield.

Upon arrival at the scene, an officer noticed an unoccupied truck that was running near the fence of the business. It was noted that a hole had been cut in the fence and there were fresh footprints in the snow.

Additional officers were called to the scene, along with Police Dog Services. Police Service Dog, Phox, tracked the male suspect for approximately five kilometres and located him walking in some thick bush.

RCMP report that 35-year-old Dustin Shelton of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with break and enter, and failing to comply.
