Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) continues to restore services for customers following the recent labour interruption. The Corporation is pleased to share the latest updates on driver testing services:

New Class 5 Road Test Appointments Available

MPI continues to encourage eligible customers to book new Class 5 road tests, as the service was fully restored last week.

Recognizing the high demand for Class 5 road tests after the labour interruption, MPI has created additional capacity and appointments are available as early as this week and into the coming months at most locations.

Class 5 road test appointments can be booked online at mpi.mb.ca, by visiting an Autopac broker or MPI Service Centre or calling MPI’s Contact Centre.

Customers whose Class 2-5 road test appointments were cancelled during the 10-week labour interruption have been rescheduled. MPI is continuing to contact customers directly and more information on new appointment dates can be found on MPI’s website.

Walk-in Knowledge Testing Available at Cityplace beginning November 22

Beginning November 22, walk-in knowledge testing services for Class 1-6 and Air Brake will be temporarily available on the second floor of Cityplace in Winnipeg to create additional availability for customers. Testing services will be available Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until further notice.

To take a test, customers must bring the following with them:

  • A valid piece of ID
  • Customer number or proof of purchase
  • A completed Medical Examination Report (Class 1-4 and Air Brake only)

Please note: Customers must visit an MPI Service Centre or Autopac broker to purchase a knowledge test service before arriving to take a test. If customers do not arrive with all required documents, they will not be allowed to complete their test. Online purchasing of walk-in knowledge test services is currently unavailable.

All tests will be performed on a computer and are available in 30 languages; no translation services or oral tests are available. Additionally, salesperson and dealer knowledge tests are unavailable at this location.

Class 1 Road Tests Rescheduled

Working collaboratively with its training school partners, MPI is in the process of rescheduling previously cancelled Class 1 road tests in Winnipeg, with appointments beginning on Monday, November 20.

Customers who had Class 1 appointments cancelled outside Winnipeg have already been rescheduled.

As MPI is prioritizing customers with previously booked tests, no new Class 1 road test appointments will be available in Winnipeg until further notice.

Regular updates will continue to be posted on MPI’s website as service restoration continues.
