Manitoba Families is reporting a privacy breach that has potentially compromised the personal information of clients of Child and Family Services (CFS). The potential breach is the result of a break-in that occurred at a CFS office in Winnipeg on January 26, 2024 at 1:42am.

The extent of the situation is not yet known, but confidential information was stored in the office.

Manitoba Families recognizes its responsibility to protect personal information. The incident has been reported to Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) and the Manitoba Ombudsman. Manitoba Families will fully co-operate with the investigation. The province will also review the incident to determine if anything can be done to prevent a similar incident in the future.

Manitobans are asked to contact WPS if they come into contact with any discarded documents containing personal information.
