The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has concluded its investigation into a incident involving a traffic stop that occurred near Dauphin, Manitoba.

On August 29, 2023, an RCMP member observed a male driving dangerously and at a high rate of speed on Provincial Trunk Highway 5 near Dauphin. Attempts to conduct a traffic stop were unsuccessful. After several near collisions, additional police units arrived and were able to contain the motorcycle.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP Cpl. Kevin Challoner has been charged with failure to drive with due regard to safety contrary to Sec. 106(4) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The IIU announced on August 31, 2023, that it had launched an investigation into the incident.
