The Manitoba government has announced that work will begin this spring on $24 million in improvements to Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 12 in the Steinbach area.

“These rehabilitation projects are essential to building a stronger, more connected Manitoba,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor. “These investments ensure our infrastructure keeps people and goods moving on safe roadways.”

The projects include resurfacing and adding fully paved shoulders to 12 kilometres (km) of PTH 12 in both directions from north of Park Road in Steinbach to the Seine River Diversion. Work will begin this spring with an anticipated completion date of fall 2026, noted the minister. Resurfacing of PTH 12 for 3.1 km northbound and southbound between McKenzie Avenue and Park Road in Steinbach will also be completed. That work will begin this summer and is anticipated to be complete this fall, added Naylor.

These projects support Manitoba’s Multi-year Infrastructure Investment Strategy, which outlines planned strategic projects in roads, highways, bridges, airports and flood protection over the next five years.
