On May 28 and May 29, 2025, Manitoba RCMP officers assisted with the evacuation of several northern communities, including the City of Flin Flon, Pimicikamak Cree Nation, and Mathias Colomb Cree Nation.
Manitoba RCMP are working closely with Chiefs and Councils, as well as municipal and provincial officials to ensure the safety and security of all residents affected by the ongoing wildfires across Manitoba’s north.
The Manitoba RCMP has deployed additional resources to affected areas. These additional police officers will assist with:
- patrolling evacuated communities to ensure homes and properties are secured,
- assisting with road closures and roadblocks,
- traffic issues that may arise due to evacuations,
- regular policing duties, and
- emergency response.
For everyone’s safety, we ask that people stay away from evacuated areas until they are notified that it is safe to return.
“We understand that this is a very stressful and difficult time for everyone involved and that many evacuees are understandably concerned about the security of their homes and property left behind,” said Superintendent Paul Peddle, North District Commander for the Manitoba RCMP. “We continue to conduct regular police patrols in Flin Flon and other evacuated communities to prevent any damage or theft. Our officers have done an incredible job assisting with evacuations throughout northern Manitoba and they remain dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.”
The Manitoba RCMP thanks all residents of evacuated communities for their continued patience and cooperation.
