Steinbach RCMP, along with the help of the Manitoba RCMP Traffic, saw increased calls for service during this past weekend’s Summer in the City street festival.
On June 13, 2025, at approximately 9pm, officers responded to a fight in progress at the Summer in the City fair grounds. A group of males were observed fighting and witnesses identified one of the males who had pulled a knife during the fight. A 20-year-old male, from Steinbach, was arrested for possession of a weapon for s dangerous purpose. The individual was released for a future court date.
On June 14, 2025, at 5:46pm, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision in the parking lot of a business on Main Street. A 19-year-old male driver, from Steinbach, struck a barricade in the parking lot, as well as a pedestrian. The driver was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and was released for a later court date. The 21-year-old male was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to which she was treated and released.
On June 15, 2025, at 5:30am, officers responded to the hospital on a report of a 54-year-old male having been assaulted with a baton and shot at with a BB gun while walking near Main Street in Steinbach. The investigation in ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.
RCMP report that in total, 35 people were charged for offences, ranging from speeding to dangerous driving, impaired operation of a conveyance, break and enter, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Members noted that there were 31 provincial offence notices issued.
Steinbach RCMP also responded to break and enters at two local businesses on Keating Road and Reimer Avenue. In these incidents, a total of three male suspects were arrested and released for future court dates, with one suspect being remanded into custody.
