On June 27, 2017, just before 2pm, Headingley RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a rural residence on Highway 26 in the RM St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba.

Upon arrival, police discovered that a male and two females in a car had pulled into the driveway of a local residence and confronted the homeowner. The male suspect then threatened the homeowner with a gun, demanding all the guns in the residence and the keys to the homeowner’s vehicle, a Buick Lacrosse. The homeowner gave the suspects his keys along with his guns and was not injured as a result. The suspects then set fire to the first vehicle and fled in the Buick.

Police were able to track the suspects who were headed to Portage la Prairie. As police believed the suspect to be armed, as he had already threatened a civilian, public safety measures were enforced, including alerting the public and assisting with the lockdown of local schools.

RCMP report that all suspects have been apprehended. The male suspect was shot and received non-life threatening injuries. The Independent Investigation Unit will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the injury.

The investigation into this incident continues with the assistance of RCMP Major Crime Services.
