In honour of Canada 150, Manitoba’s provincial police service is hosting a community event at the RCMP Winnipeg Headquarters. On July 7, 2017, the public is welcomed to come and see what the RCMP are bringing to local communities across the province.
Dominion Street will be closed and RCMP equipment and officers will be on hand to do demonstrations and let you explore some police equipment. Boats, bomb robots and drones will be on hand for the public to see and speak to our officers about.
The event starts at 10am and will be opened by Assistant Commissioner Scott Kolody, Commanding Officer of the RCMP in Manitoba. The RCMP pipes and drums will play to kick off this community event.
“We are your provincial police force, and we want you to be able to see the equipment and skills we use to keep Manitobans safe,” said A/Commr Kolody. “We wanted to invite Manitobans to spend time with us and become more familiar with what we do. In Canada’s 150th year, we felt it was important to highlight the partnership between police and all Manitobans.”
This event will not only showcase police skills and equipment, there also will be a BBQ and face painting. Safety Bears Hudson and Churchill will be on hand as well. There are lots of activities planned for people of all ages, and the RCMP sincerely hopes the public will join with them to celebrate Canada 150 and see how the RCMP polices in the communities it serves.
