St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP are currently investigating a recent collision involving two semi trucks and a train that occurred at a location near Dufrost, Manitoba.
On August 13, 2025, at 7:28am, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a train collision on Highway 23, at Road 18 East, near Dufrost, in the RM of DeSalaberry.
Police say that a semi-truck, traveling west on Highway 23, attempted to stop at the train crossing. The driver was unable to stop on time and subsequently swerved into the ditch on the north side of the road, attempting to avoid a collision with the train. Officers noted that the driver, a 57-year-old male from the RM of Montcalm, was transported to hospital for precautionary measures.
RCMP report that another westbound semi-truck, hauling gravel, collided with the back end of the train resulting in the truck catching fire. The driver, a 53-year-old male from Winnipeg, was uninjured.
Members noted that the train continued its route, and no further injuries were reported.
Police believe that heavy fog at the time was a contributing factor in the collision.
Highway 23 will be closed until further notice as the result of damages to the roadway following the collision and debris on the road. Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure will be attending for the repairs.
