The City of Steinbach is proud to announce the official grand opening of the highly anticipated Southeast Event Centre, a landmark project that will serve as a hub for recreation, culture, and community life in southeastern Manitoba.

Located in the heart of Steinbach, the Southeast Event Centre is a state-of-the-art, multi-use facility designed to accommodate a wide range of events including sporting competitions, concerts, community gatherings, exhibitions, and more. The Centre marks a significant milestone in the city’s ongoing commitment to enhancing quality of life and expanding opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

“The Southeast Event Centre will be an exciting hub for residents of Steinbach,” said Ginette Lavack, Member of Parliament for St. Boniface – St. Vital, on behalf of the Honourable Gregor Robertson, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada. “This state-of-the-art facility will provide a modern space for events, recreation, and community gatherings, helping bring people together for years to come. We are proud to support projects like this that strengthen communities and enhance the quality of life for residents.”

“This is a transformative moment for our community,” said Mayor Earl Funk. “This facility is more than bricks and mortar – it’s a place where our community will gather, celebrate, and grow together. We are incredibly proud to welcome this new chapter in Steinbach’s story.”

The project was made possible through a collaborative funding model involving all three levels of government, with the Government of Manitoba and the Government of Canada playing key roles in bringing the vision to life.

The Southeast Event Centre features a modern arena, multi-purpose rooms, performance spaces, and flexible areas for hosting both large-scale and intimate events. It is expected to become a regional destination and a key driver of economic and cultural growth in the region.

The grand opening celebration took place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, and included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, public tours, live performances, and family-friendly activities. Residents were invited to come and explore the new facility and take part in a historic day for the City of Steinbach.
