The Manitoba government is demonstrating its support for quality education with the opening of three new schools for the 2025-26 school year, including Parkhill School in Steinbach.

“These new schools represent our government’s commitment to supporting families and building strong communities,” said Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Tracy Schmidt. “By investing in modern, inclusive learning environments and accessible child-care spaces, we’re ensuring that students in growing neighbourhoods like Winnipeg’s Sage Creek and Steinbach have the opportunities and resources they need to thrive from their earliest years through to graduation.”

Parkhill School at 91 Parkland Dr. in Steinbach is a two-storey kindergarten to Grade 4 school with an opening capacity of 500 students. The school offers 20 classrooms, including three kindergarten rooms, a gym and mini gym, kitchenette, a library, music room, multi-purpose spaces and a life skills room, as well as a 104-space infant, preschool and school-age child-care facility.

École Sage Creek Bonavista in south Winnipeg is a new French immersion kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Louis Riel School Division at 355 Hivernants Blvd. With a capacity of 900 students and a 104-space infant, preschool and school-age child-care centre, the school features 26 classrooms, a large gym, a library and learning commons area, a multi-purpose room, a mini gym for the youngest students, a home economics and industrial arts wing, music and band rooms and specialized art and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics rooms.

Also in south Winnipeg, Division scolaire franco-manitobaine has opened a new school in Sage Creek at 45 Witham Rd., offering Française programming for kindergarten to Grade 8 students. The school has space for 450 students and features a 134-space infant, preschool and school-age child-care centre. It has 18 new classrooms including two kindergarten rooms, a science classroom, a gym, multi-purpose space and a life skills, resource and guidance suite.

Also opening this fall is a major multi-purpose room addition at Swan Valley Regional Secondary School, which offers space for performing arts programming, including band, drama and music.

The Manitoba government announced in Budget 2025 over $20 million in additional funds will be allocated to deliver four of 11 new schools: Devonshire Park, Brandon Southwest, Prairie Pointe and Meadowlands.
