Selkirk RCMP are reporting that a recent collision in the community, involving a vehicle and pedestrian, has sent a male youth to hospital in critical condition.

On October 15, 2025, at 9:30pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Manitoba Avenue, just west of Highway 9A, in Selkirk.

Officers immediately attended the scene and determined that two young males were walking east in the middle of the road when one of them was struck by a vehicle, also traveling east. Members noted that one of the males was seen laying in the south ditch.

RCMP report that the 17-year-old victim, from the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, was transported to hospital via STARS in critical condition with serious injuries. The other pedestrian was not injured. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old male, also from the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, was not injured.

Selkirk RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate this incident.

Update

On October 22, 2025, the 17-year-old male that was injured in the collision in Selkirk on October 15, has succumbed to his injuries. Follow-up investigation has determined that the two young males were walking east along the edge of the road when the collision occurred.
