Portage la Prairie RCMP are currently investigating an armed robbery incident and are asking the public for any information that may help identify a male suspect.
On December 4, 2025, at approximately 5:20pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of an armed robbery that occurred at a business located on Saskatchewan Avenue West in the community. Officers immediately responded to the scene and were advised by an employee that an unknown male suspect, wearing a balaclava and dressed all in black, entered the store with a firearm and demanded money.
Police say that the suspect fled the scene on foot after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers noted that the employee was not physically injured as a result of the incident.
Extensive patrols in the area were conducted with assistance from the Manitoba Police Dog Services (PDS). The effort was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
RCMP are asking any residents along 7th Street Northwest who may have video footage, possibly containing images of the suspect, to contact the Portage la Prairie detachment at 204-857-4445.
