St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP are reporting that a male youth was recently arrested at a Grunthal school after being found to be in possession of a firearm and knives.
On April 22, 2026, at approximately 9:30am, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP were notified about a male youth with a firearm on their way to Green Valley School in Grunthal.
Officers immediately notified school officials and subsequently learned that the youth was located on school property by staff who were able to get the teen to hand over the weapons in his possession. No force was used by school officials during this incident.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers placed the youth under arrest and seized a handgun (unloaded), a loaded magazine, additional loose ammunition in a container, and knives.
RCMP report that the youth is facing charges of possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon, and possession of weapon obtained by crime.
Members noted that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing and that the teen remains in custody.
