The Manitoba government has announced that it is unveiling a comfort camping option with new mini cabins in St. Malo Provincial Park.
“We know yurts and cabins are very popular across the park system,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes. “Our government is thrilled to provide Manitobans with a new comfort camping option by introducing our new made-in-Manitoba mini cabins.”
Six new mini cabins are currently under construction in the Sunset Shores area of St. Malo Provincial Park. Each cabin will include furnishings similar to the yurts elsewhere in the park system, with beds, an outdoor cooking area and electrical connections. Guests will need to bring their own bedding and cooking equipment.
Manitoba Parks will make the new cabins available through its reservation service after construction is completed later this summer. The new cabins will cost $89.60 per night (including tax), with a maximum stay of seven nights.
Beach visitors at St. Malo Provincial Park will also see a new modern washroom on the main beach, which replaced an old facility and opened earlier this spring.
“Our investment in the mini cabins and a new beach washroom highlight our government’s commitment to enhancing facilities and visitor experiences in our provincial parks,” said Moyes. “In all, our government is investing $2.5 million in the new washroom and mini cabins at St. Malo.”
Manitobans can make a reservation for campsites, cabins, yurts and group-use areas through the parks reservation service, online at manitobaparks.com or by calling (toll-free) 1-888-482-2267.
