St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP are reporting that a recent two-vehicle collision in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Tache has claimed the life of an Ontario man, as well as leaving a youth from Steinbach with serious injuries.
On June 17, 2026, at 12:21am, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 59, near Prefontaine Road in the RM of Tache.
Police say that a vehicle with two occupants was traveling north on Highway 59 when it crossed into the path of a semi-truck travelling south. The vehicle subsequently collided with the semi-truck pushing both vehicles into the ditch.
Members arrived at the scene shortly after the Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services.
RCMP report that the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old male from Ontario, was pronounced deceased on scene. The 13-year-old male passenger, from Steinbach, was transported by STARS to a Winnipeg hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. Officers noted that the driver of the semi-truck, a 45-year-old male from Alberta, was not injured in this incident.
St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP, along with the Manitoba RCMP Traffic services, continue to investigate.
