Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) is continuing to respond to the over 34,000 claims opened with the Corporation since early June by focusing on providing services where customers have been the most impacted by severe weather across the province.
Over the past month, MPI has managed the largest claims event in its history by opening dedicated Hail Response Centres at its Gateway and Main Street Service Centres in Winnipeg. Following severe weather in the Westman region in early July, MPI deployed additional mobile estimating services, including its dedicated hail trailer, to support customers in Boissevain and Killarney.
As a result of these efforts, thousands of customers are moving forward with their claims to get their vehicles repaired following the storms.
MPI continues to serve customers following the storms, including in the most impacted areas of northeast Winnipeg and the Westman region of the province. In order to focus resources where they are most needed, MPI is updating its response efforts in the City of Winnipeg and has begun to wind down its Hail Response Centre at the Main Street Service Centre. The last day for appointments will be July 31 and all appointments booked until this date will continue as scheduled at this location. After Aug. 1, MPI’s Main Street Service Centre will return to offering regular estimating appointments. Initial hail assessments will continue to be available in Winnipeg at the Gateway Service Centre.
Impacted customers who have not yet opened a claim can do so online or by calling MPI’s Contact Centre at 204-985-7000 or toll free at 1-800-665-2410. Eligible customers who have opened a claim will receive an email from MPI outlining their options for next steps.
