On Remembrance Day, the Southeast Event Centre will once again open its doors to welcome the community as they come together to honour and remember the veterans, past and present, who selflessly served and sacrificed for our nation, our freedoms, and our democracy.

This year’s service holds special significance as Canadians mark the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion, recognizing a century of service, support, advocacy, and remembrance.

Residents from across the Southeast are invited to attend the Remembrance Day Service in the SCU Gymnasium & Hall at the Southeast Event Centre. Doors will open at 10:15am with the service beginning at 11am.

Following the service, attendees are invited to remain at the Southeast Event Centre for coffee and light refreshments as the community continues to gather in reflection, gratitude, and remembrance.

The Southeast Event Centre is honoured to welcome Reverend Tim Perry, who will lead the spiritual portion of the service, alongside a quintet brass ensemble led by Scott Peters. The ceremony will include The Last Post and will once again feature the valued participation of the 307 Steinbach Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron and the Dawson Trail Sea Cadets, whose ongoing contributions help make this annual tradition so meaningful.

“Remembrance Day is an opportunity for our community to pause, reflect, and honour those who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today,” said Bill Richards with the Steinbach Legion. “We are grateful to the Southeast Event Centre for a space where more people from across the region can come together in gratitude, remembrance, and respect.”

There is plenty of room for attendees, and everyone is welcome.

Community members are encouraged to wear their poppy, take a moment to reflect, and join their neighbours in remembering the sacrifices made by generations of Canadian service members.

The Southeast Event Centre remains committed to its mission of bringing people together for all the right reasons, and this annual gathering continues to be one of the most meaningful ways to do so.
