A St. Andrews male youth was arrested and is facing charges of uttering threats after recently posting threatening comments on social media.

On November 5, 2017, at 4:30pm, Selkirk RCMP began receiving calls about a social media post where a youth had made a series of comments that were construed as being threatening in nature. Officers were able to quickly identify and locate the suspect who was subsequently arrested for uttering threats.

RCMP report that a 16-year-old male youth from St. Andrews was arrested and is currently in police custody.

“The RCMP takes these types of complaints seriously and the officers in Selkirk worked quickly to identify and locate the individual responsible”, said Sgt. Paul Manaigre of the Manitoba RCMP. “We are continuing to work with the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School and taking all the necessary steps to ensure the students and staff are safe at school.”

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
