A 73-year-old St. Claude man ended up in hospital with minor injuries after losing control of his pickup truck and going over the side of a bridge in the RM of Dufferin.

On November 17, 2017, at approximately 8:40am, officers from the Morden and Carman RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Road 18W, approximately three kilometres north of Highway 3 in the RM of Dufferin.

Police investigators believe that a southbound pickup truck, being driven by a 73-year-old man from St. Claude, lost control on Road 18W and went over the side of the bridge. The pickup truck along with the trailer it was pulling went through the ice into the frigid water.

RCMP report that the driver managed to remove himself from the vehicle and get to shore where a passing motorist offered his assistance by keeping the driver warm until Emergency Services arrived. The driver was then transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
