A 19-year-old man is facing numerous charges in connection to a recent arson investigation in Crane River, Manitoba.

On January 7, 2017, at approximately 12:47am, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP received a report of an assault and a residential fire occurring at the same location in O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi First Nation (Crane River). When officers arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames and the reported female victim of the assault was unaccounted for.

Once police investigators were able to enter the residence, human remains were located. Those remains have not yet been identified. Ste Rose du Lac RCMP and the RCMP Major Crime Unit remained on scene to conduct the investigation.

RCMP report that 19-year-old Earl Moar has been arrested in connection to this incident. Moar has been charged with aggravated assault, arson with disregard for human life, assault and breach of recognizance. He has been remanded in custody.
