A 42-year-old woman is facing numerous theft and fraud related charges after recently being arrested by Morris RCMP.

On Sunday, January 14, 2018, at approximately 9:30pm, officers from the Morris RCMP Detachment were alerted to a suspicious person walking down a back lane who was carrying a wide variety of items. Officers made a patrol and located a female matching the description provided to police. The 42-year-old female provided a false name to officers as well as a reason for carrying the items in her possession. She was released without arrest.

Officers then followed-up on the story she provided and began to investigate the area where she was last seen. Information was then obtained that the property had in fact been stolen and they were able to establish her real identity.

The investigation led to the granting of a search warrant at a residence located on McMillan Street in Morris. The results of the search warrant provided evidence on several unsolved break and enters in the area.

As a result of investigation, RCMP have arrested and charged 42-year-old Jolene O’Bara with numerous offences including possession of property by crime and identity fraud.
