A 34-year-old man is facing a second degree murder charge after being arrested by Island Lake RCMP in connection to an ongoing homicide investigation.
On January 28, 2018, at approximately 12:15am, Island Lake RCMP received a report that a female was taken to the St. Theresa Point Nursing Station. When she arrived at the Nursing Station, she was pronounced deceased.
Police investigation revealed that the 35-year-old victim had been assaulted.
RCMP report that 34-year-old Jonathan Wood was arrested in connection to this investigation. Wood is facing numerous charges including second degree murder. He remains in RCMP custody.
The RCMP Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section are assisting with this ongoing investigation.
