“The First Shift”, a program designed to help kids fall in love with hockey before parents buy all the gear, is coming to Steinbach, beginning with a welcome evening on October 7, 2016 at the T.G. Smith Centre.

The program focuses on young people between the ages of six and 10 that have never played hockey and might be interested in trying the sport. It is a six week learn-to-play program focusing on having fun while learning basic skills.

The mission of “The First Shift” is to change the way hockey is offered. By inspiring new families to enrol their kids, an exposure to the game is experienced while creating positive conversation.

Bauer Hockey and Hockey Canada have committed to a multi-year strategy to grow the game by increasing participation. “The First Shift” is an opportunity to introduce benefits to new families and to make a meaningful impact on the lives of kids, their families and local communities.

The program begins with a welcome evening on October 7, 2016 at the T.G. Smith Centre where the participants will learn about the weeks ahead and get geared-up with new Bauer hockey equipment.

Steinbach Minor Hockey is proud to present this event and is looking forward to connecting local kids with a sport that Canada loves. Equipment is included with a registration of $199.
