Three children have died after being struck by a vehicle on a road near Nelson House, Manitoba.

On April 28, 2018, at approximately 10:35pm, Nelson House RCMP received a report of three children being struck on Provincial Road 620, approximately two kilometres north of Nelson House.

Police say that the three male children, a 13-year-old and two 11-year-olds, were pronounced deceased on scene.‎ All were from Nelson House.

Investigators believe that a vehicle, being driven by a 27-year-old Nelson House man, along with four passengers, was traveling south when it struck the children. Two of the children were walking and one was riding a bike on the road at the time of the collision.

RCMP report that the driver exited his vehicle and fled from the scene on foot. At approximately 12am, the driver of the vehicle walked to the Nelson House RCMP detachment and turned himself in to police.

Alcohol has been determined to be a factor in this collision and multiple charges are pending against the driver. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
