RCMP are currently investigating a number of recent homicides that occurred in Belair and Oxford House, Manitoba.

On May 6, 2018, at approximately 10am, Powerview RCMP were dispatched to check on the owner of a residence in Belair, Manitoba. When officers arrived at the residence, the 80-year-old male homeowner was located deceased.

The death has been determined to be a homicide and police say that there is no threat to public safety in relation to this matter.

In another incident, On May 8, 2018, at approximately 7:20am, Oxford House RCMP received a report of a male who was transported to the nursing station as a result of injuries sustained from an assault with a weapon. The 30-year-old male later succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP report that 30-year-old Margaret Chubb was arrested and charged with second degree murder in this incident. The accused and the victim were known to each other and both are residents of Oxford House.

RCMP Major Crime Services and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section are assisting with the ongoing investigations.
