Bethesda Foundation is excited to announce that work is underway to create a Healing Garden at the Bethesda Regional Health Care Centre, located at the corner of Reimer Avenue and Henry Street in Steinbach.

“I can remember when the fountain at the hospital was first created,” said Bethesda Foundation Executive Director, Linda Peters. “I was a little girl, and I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. The lights changed from green, to red, to blue. I was awestruck. That fountain has brought joy and healing to many people in our community over the past 50 years or so, and Peters states, now is the perfect time to refresh that area and create something even more beautiful.”

Peters notes that many studies have indicated that nature, green space, and contemplative areas are conducive to the well-being of humankind. This becomes even more important to the well-being of people who are hospitalized, and their families who come to visit them. The Healing Garden, located adjacent to the Cancer Care Centre, will provide a peaceful and beautiful place to gather, to rest, to heal.

Two generous donations were recently received, designated specifically to a Healing Garden project. Bethesda Foundation expresses its gratitude for the ongoing generosity of donors within the community.

Completion of the Healing Garden is expected to be late summer.
