A 58-year-old Winnipeg man has died after falling off a large chemical storage tank at the City of Winnipeg Water Treatment Plant.

On May 22, 2018, at approximately 11:30am, Oakbank RCMP responded to a workplace incident at the City of Winnipeg Water Treatment Plant located on Provincial Road 207 in the RM of Springfield.

Initial police investigation has determined that a 58-year-old Winnipeg man was working on equipment on top of a large chemical storage tank when he fell to the ground. Emergency services were called immediately. The man was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

In addition to the ongoing RCMP investigation, Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health was notified, attended the scene and has initiated an independent investigation under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations.
