Headingley RCMP are actively investigating a recent incident where items were likely stolen from numerous Canada Post community mailboxes located in La Salle, Manitoba.

Police say that sometime overnight on July 22 to July 23, 2018, suspects broke into more than 100 individual Canada Post community mailboxes located in La Salle. It is believed that sensitive information could have been taken from the mailboxes.

RCMP are cautioning anyone whose mailbox was affected to protect themselves from the possibility of identity theft by reporting their mailbox break-in to the Headingley RCMP and to Canada Post, then contact your bank/financial institution and your credit card company. You should also contact the two national credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on your credit reports (Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada). Finally, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Headingley RCMP are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious overnight on July 22, 2018, or anyone who may have cameras pointed in the direction of any mailboxes to contact the police at 204-888-0358.
