Selkirk RCMP, along with Police Dog Services, recently responded to a fatal hit and run incident that occurred on Donald Road, just off of Highway 9 near Lockport, Manitoba.

At approximately 11:45pm on August 10, 2018, Selkirk RCMP, EMS and the St. Andrews Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision.

Initial police investigation determined that two 15-year-old boys were riding their bikes on the shoulder of Donald Road, just off of Highway 9, when a vehicle went off the roadway and struck them. The boys were thrown into the ditch by the impact.

Police say that one of the boys, from the RM of St. Andrews, was pronounced deceased on scene. The other boy was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition.

RCMP report that the driver fled the scene on foot after his vehicle became disabled in the ditch. Police Dog Services attended, quickly picked-up a track and located the suspect in a vehicle on Donald Road. It has since been determined that the vehicle involved in the collision had been stolen out of Winnipeg.

The suspect, 29-year-old Justin Joseph Little from Calgary, Alberta, is facing multiple charges in relation to this incident. Driving while impaired (drugs), is considered to be a factor in this incident.
