A 21-year-old Selkirk man was recently found deceased on Highway 59 as a result of being struck by numerous vehicles.

On August 19, 2018, at approximately 2:30am, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a body on Highway 59 near Provincial Road 304 in the RM of St. Clements. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male lying on the northbound lane of Highway 59.

Initial police investigation has determined that a 21-year-old Selkirk man was at a location near the collision scene when he left for a walk on the highway. He was last seen at 1am. Investigators believe that the man was struck by multiple vehicles prior to a witness pulling over and calling 911.

Selkirk RCMP are asking anyone who may have been in the area between the hours of 1am and 2:30am, and may have seen something or have information related to this incident to call 204-482-1222. Update

Investigators have determined that the 21-year-old male, who was walking on the highway, was struck by a trailer being pulled by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle has been in contact with RCMP. Based on the investigation, no charges are expected.
