The Bethesda Foundation has announced that the healing garden at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, located at the corner of Henry Street and Reimer Avenue in Steinbach, has now been completed.

“Long ago our community acknowledged that green spaces contribute to physical, mental and spiritual well-being,” said Linda Peters, Executive Director, Bethesda Foundation. “Since the hospital’s name came from a reference to the healing pools of Bethesda, it seemed appropriate that a water fountain should be a central feature of the ‘park’ beside their hospital. This water fountain was built many years ago. A sundial surrounded by plaques honouring the founding pioneers was added in 1974 as a contribution from Bethesda Hospital to Steinbach’s centennial celebration.”

“We all appreciate the foresight of past generations, and because of this Bethesda Foundation had a vision of refurbishing this special space,” said Marg Rempel, one of the board members for Bethesda Foundation. “Thank you to the generous donors who made available the necessary financial resources for this project to be completed in the summer of 2018.”

An official opening of the new healing garden has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 12 from 11am-11:30am. The Bethesda Foundation invites the community to participate in the event.
