A 16-year-old male youth is facing a number of cannabis related charges after recently being arrested by Steinbach RCMP.

On Ocotober 23, 2018 at 11am, Steinbach RCMP received information that the occupants of a motor vehicle were consuming cannabis. Officers made contact with the vehicle driver and occupants, who were all subsequently arrested under the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act.

RCMP report that a 16-year-old, male resident of Steinbach was issued two tickets – one under the Highway Traffic Act for unlawful transportation of cannabis in or on a vehicle, the other for possession or consumption of cannabis by a young person contrary to the Liquor, Gaming Cannabis Control Act.

Police say that fines totaling $909 were issued.

RCMP noted that 29.5 grams of cannabis was seized as an individual under the age of 19 in Manitoba can not possess any cannabis.
