Manitoba Infrastructure reminds motorists to adjust their driving habits for winter conditions and to remain alert when following or approaching highway snowplows, as forecasts are calling for snow across many areas of the province.

The province monitors weather forecasts and plans operations with its fleet of approximately 300 truck plows, de-icing equipment and motor graders. All equipment has flashing blue warning lights and drivers should stay well back of all equipment. Manitobans should not attempt to pass a snowplow from behind any time it is in operation and slow down when passing approaching snowplows.

The priority is to clear driving lanes first, then shoulders, removing snow from bridges and snow adjacent to guard rails and from other built-up locations. Sanding, salting and de-icing will continue as required.
