A 27-year-old Steinbach man has been arrested after RCMP responded to a disturbance at a residence located on McKenzie Avenue in Steinbach, Manitoba.

On January 1, 2019, at approximately 1:39am, Steinbach RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance at a residence located on McKenzie Avenue in Steinbach. As police were approaching the area, officers located the suspect breaking into a nearby parked vehicle. The suspect was eventually arrested after fighting with police. Police noted that the suspect sustained minor injuries from breaking the car window.

After returning to the residence, RCMP located a 28-year-old female who was suffering from serious injuries. The woman was transported to local hospital and then transferred to Winnipeg where she remains in stable condition. Police stated that a 35-year-old male suffered non-life threatening injuries when he tried to assist the female victim.

RCMP report that 27-year-old Harley Delorme has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and mischief under $5,000.

Police say that the suspect and female victim are both residents of Steinbach and were known to each other.
