Oakbank and Souris RCMP are currently investigating the recent theft of numerous firearms that were stolen in in the RM of Springfield and Souris, Manitoba.

On January 14, 2019, at approximately 3am, Oakbank RCMP responded to a call of a break and enter at a residence located in the RM of Springfield. Police say that suspects entered a garage and stole 12 handguns from a locked gun safe and fled. Officers attended the scene and made patrols but did not locate the suspects.

At approximately 10:20am on the same day, Souris RCMP received a report of break and enter at a residence located in Souris. In this incident, suspect(s) had entered the residence and stole 41 long guns. Police believe that the theft had occurred sometime within the last month and do not believ that the thefts are related at this time.

The thefts are being actively investigated by Oakbank and Souris RCMP with assistance from the Forensic Identification Unit.
